Brookside
Overview
Our client approached us with a multi faceted brief related to the refurbishment of a 400 year old cottage in the Cotswolds. The first piece of work relates to construction of a work-from-home garden room. The developed design is muted in tone, and built of humble materials: blackened larch cladding over a timber frame, interior lined in softwood ply, and lightweight tin roof supported with a bespoke lacquered strut creates a porch area for strumming the guitar on warm summer days. Glazing is painted in a soft green tone for gentle contrast. The interior accomodates two people working at a long horizonatal window that folds up to allow views over a scented herb garden. The built in storage incorporates a hidden fold down bed for additional guest accomodation.
